Please see the information below regarding upcoming External Awards. External awards, scholarships, and bursaries are available through outside organizations and are generally province-wide or Canada-wide. These differ from the local scholarships provided by community businesses and organizations that will be made available in the spring. A brief summary of each scholarship is included below, along with a link for more information.

BC Excellence Scholarship (Due Feb., 2026 - exact date TBD)- The B.C. Excellence scholarship is awarded to 55 high school graduates who have demonstrated service and leadership, both at school and in their communities, and who show aptitude for and commitment to their chosen career or area of post-secondary study. Students selected for this award receive a $5,000 scholarship voucher from the Ministry of Education and Child Care, which they can use to be reimbursed for tuition paid after attending a post-secondary institution designated by the Province of B.C. To apply for this scholarship, you must have a recommendation from the school. Please submit a 1-page cover letter highlighting why you would be a good fit for the scholarship to Mr. Cowan by Dec. 19th for consideration.

B.C. Excellence Scholarship - Province of British Columbia (gov.bc.ca)

Cmolik Scholarship (Due Feb. 7th, 2026)-  20 scholarships, each one a maximum of $45,000 paid over five years of study, to students graduating from BC high schools. Scholarship recipients have faced adversity but have responded with positivity and tenacity, achieving academic and social goals. To apply for this scholarship, you must have a recommendation from the school. Please submit a 1-page cover letter highlighting why you would be a good fit for the scholarship to Mr. Cowan by Dec. 19th for consideration.

The Cmolik Foundation | Undergraduate                      

Schulich Leader Scholarships (Due Feb 18th, 2026) Canada’s most coveted undergraduate STEM scholarships. One hundred are awarded to entrepreneurial-minded high school graduates enrolling in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math program at 20 partner universities across Canada. Half are valued at $120,000 for engineering scholarships, and half are valued at $100,000* for science and math scholarships. Every high school in Canada can nominate one graduating student each year to apply for the scholarship. Please submit a 1-page cover letter highlighting why you would be a good fit for the scholarship to Mr. Cowan by Dec. 19th for consideration.

Schulich Leader Scholarships

Beedie Luminaries (Due Dec. 2026) - The Beedie Luminaries Scholarship is for students with potential who are facing financial and other life adversities. Students who are smart, but constrained by circumstance. Students who are resilient and gritty. Students who are ready to make a positive change in their lives. They offer five comprehensive programs that support Grade 12 students, single parents, refugees and immigrants, graduate students, and aspiring tradespeople in their pursuit of further education. Scholarship applications will open in November and can be made directly through the website below.
