Graduation

Graduation Requirements:

Graduation requires at least 80 credits in Grades 10-12, and there are some specific course requirements as well. Please review this document for the complete list of graduation requirements in British Columbia.

Capstone:

The capstone is a rigorous learning opportunity that allows students to reflect and share in personally meaningful ways, and it is a requirement for Career-Life Connections 12 and graduation. The purpose of the capstone is for students to demonstrate the knowledge, competencies, and passion(s) that they can offer the world, as they integrate personal interests and strengths with preferred future possibilities. You can access more information with the link here.

Local Scholarships:

Academic Honour Cords

  • What they are: These cords recognize academic excellence.

Requirements: To qualify, students must graduate with a minimum of 92 credits. They also require a combined average of at least 80% in specific Grade 11 and 12 graduation requirement courses, plus their top five other Grade 11 or 12 courses.

Process: Students do not need to apply for an Academic Honour Cord. Eligible students will be notified automatically when they pick up their graduation packages.

Achievement Cords

  • What they are: These cords celebrate diverse student achievements and unique contributions to the school and community. Students can be recognized in one of eight categories: Cultural Leadership, Arts, ADST-Trades, Community Service, STEM, Humanities, Athletics, or Dual Dogwood.

Requirements: Students must be in good standing regarding attendance and behaviour. Each category also has its own specific criteria, such as verified volunteer hours or extracurricular participation.

Process: Unlike Academic Honour Cords, this process is self-driven. Students must submit a brief application detailing their achievements and providing a reference. A dedicated committee of teachers and staff then reviews the applications using standardized criteria.
